The University of Illinois Hospital

Since 1992, the U.C. Department of Radiation Oncology has had an innovative clinical partnership with University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), located in the Illinois Medical District on the near west side of Chicago. Home to one of the largest medical schools in the country, the strength of the University of Illinois lies in its surgical sciences including the Departments of Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology and Otolaryngology. In the Fall of 1999, the Department relocated its clinical facilities and services to UIC's new Outpatient Care Center (OCC). Our therapy equipment is state-of the-art, including two Varian dual-energy linear accelerators with 120 multi-leaf collimation and portal imaging, Marconi CT scanner for simulation, and high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy. The UIC radiation oncology facility offers the full scope of conventional radiation oncology services as well as advanced procedures such as intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT), stereotactic radiosurgery, and pain management.
